Membership tracks are not burnable to CD and you can enjoy them only as long as you remain a subscriber. On the other hand, if you purchase the tracks from the website (purchased tracks), then you are not restricted of burning to CD and of playing them without Napster subscription. Membership tracks compatible players are purchased tracks compatible, as well. Though, it does not mean the opposite.

All tracks from Napster are in WMA format of either 128 or 192 kbps. Purchased and membership tracks are protected by Microsoft version of DRM, known as Windows Media DRM. Windows Media DRM restrictions:
 play purchased or membership tracks in up to 3 PC
burning purchased tracks to CD is unlimited, but burning tracks as part of any playlist is limited to 7 times
purchased tracks can be copied and played simultaneously in up to 3 compatible portable devices
You are required to download and install Napster Software (free software), in order to start subscription services or download-purchase from the website. The software can also be used to import and organize your music files, transfer music to compatible MP3 player or music phone, download tracks to listen offline, or burn CDs.

Napster To Go, additional $2/month on top of basic subscription, basic subscription plus download membership tracks to maximum 3 compatible MP3 players.
Purchased track costs 99¢ per song for non-subscriber, while subscribers enjoy up to 20% discount when purchasing multiple songs with Napster Track Packs.
Napster accepts Credit card and Paypal as payment for subscription services and Napster Gift Certificate for download purchase.
Listen to any tracks from Napster website up to 3 times each for free. After the 3rd free play of any single track, you can either purchase the track or become a subscriber.
